Reasons, Seasons, and Lifetimes…

friends, reasons, seasons, life times

We have all been there. We find people in our lives for reasons, seasons, and some even for a lifetime.

The “reasons” are the ones who come along and teach us something about ourselves, about others, and maybe even open our eyes to something that never would have crossed our paths otherwise. (A lesson waiting to be learned…)

There is a point to them being around and involved. They are the ones who grow us, stretch us, frustrate us, exasperate us, encourage us, and even wake us up to perhaps some areas in our own life that we were ignoring.

(I am finding that these are the ones that may not be in my life very long, and that is ok!)

Next would be the “seasons“. These are the ones that tend to come in and out. Kind of like how we go through seasons during the year, (unless you live in Texas!), they are the ones who come along for a certain amount of time.

Again, I am learning, growing, peeling back layers of deeper issues that I had ignored for so long. These are the ones that will get it out of you one way or another! They ask the hard questions, pray the hard prayers, and keep you accountable. In fact, it may be years before your paths ever cross again! That is AMAZING to me!

Finally, I have my “life-timers“. I love my life-time friends! When I look back over the past however many years old I am, they are the ones that fall into ALL of these categories. They are the ones where I discovered life taking us down separate paths, but then brought us back together through kids, work, homeschool, ministry, etc…

They are the ones who impacted me in some form or fashion, positive or negative, and caused me to take a long, hard look at myself and ask, “Are they the type of person  that I would want MY kids being friends with?”

I love what Proverbs 12:26 says, “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.”

So thankful for all of my reasons, seasons, and life times!
